If you have ADHD, you know the painful tediousness of regularly attending to morning and nightly hygiene routines. It can be easy to neglect a step here and there until you realize you've abandoned your routines altogether. The key is to keep convenient products around for those nights or mornings when you just can't even.
Try these tips:
Washing Your Face:
Please do not spend one more day enduring the unendurable sensation of water droplets rolling out of your cupped hands and into your armpits. Save facewash for the shower.
These super soft microfiber makeup remover cloths make facial cleansing quick and easy. They even remove mascara. Dampen with water, gently wipe your face, rinse, and hang to dry. When you are ready to wash them, just toss them in the washing machine.
And if you prefer disposable face wipes, I recommend these:
Or grab some soft cotton pads, douse them in micellar water, wipe, and throw away. Micellar water gently removes makeup, dirt, and oil without drying out the skin.
Skincare:
When it comes to skincare products, opt for products with a pump to make them as quick and easy to use as possible. It might also help to use clear containers so you know when it's getting close to time to order more.
Brushing Your Teeth:
Get yourself a good electric toothbrush. There are tons of great options out there to choose from. I love my Sonicare. It uses pressure sensors to adjust itself if you push too hard so you don't damage your gums. I for reals get compliments on my healthy mouth from my dental hygienist. You'll get much more effectiveness out of each second with an electric than a manual and with less effort. Just ignore the two minute timer or use it as a personal challenge.
Also, do not waste your time with normal string floss. Ain't nobody got time for that. Get yourself some high-quality disposable flossers and put them in a container on your countertop where you can grab them quickly.
Or, you could try this electric flossing toothbrush for an all-in-one solution:
Washing Your Hair:
Why can't every day be dry shampoo day? Dry shampoo sure comes in handy on days when you don't have time or dopamine to bother with washing, drying, and styling your hair. Just spray on like hair spray, comb through, and watch the shiny spots disappear. It even smells nice. According to Byrdie.com, this is the best of the best in dry shampoo. It doesn't leave a white residue and is paraben and sulfate-free.
Hair Removal:
I have never really minded plucking my eyebrows with tweezers, but my beautiful brunette upper lip hair? Ouch! I've tried upper lip hair bleach from the drug store and got myself a California blonde mustache that just could not stay, so, I resorted to waxing, which was fabulous and quick, but I just couldn't manage to maintain regular appointments. Now I use a quick and easy little electric razor or to remove unwanted facial hair. And for legs? Get yourself a men's electric razor you can use without having to jump in the shower just because you decided last minute to wear a skirt. Why do the men's razors work so much better than the women's? Not cool.
Hopefully these tips and products can take the tediousness out of hygiene routines and speed up the process. There are many ways to attend to personal hygiene, but "done" is really the only requirement.
